The Prez Sez…

All In the Timing

From the internet. Clock humor may prove to be timely. I smashed a clock and the policeman wanted to arrest me for killing ‘time’. I said it was self-defense… The clock stuck first, and had me all wound up. That was alarming.

When I looked up the definition of ‘time’, I found it could be used as a noun. An example would be; For some it is ‘time’ to retire, (cease work).

Or it could be used as a verb. An example would be: I re-tired, (new P205/70R14 white letter rubber for 1966 Dodge Dart) with the ‘timing’ of the sale at good year.

Or it could be used as an adjective. An example would be; A ‘timing’ light is also known as a stroboscope.

I have written before about Mother Nature’s ‘timing’ when the rain drops hit the windshield after three minutes into the drive to cruise night. Her ‘timing’ was right on again on the March meeting night. Yep, no snow for weeks and then a half hour before gathering ‘time’, the air fills with water vapor frozen into white flakes, lots of them. However, our ‘time’ was still productive, with 19 members attending.

Our date and ‘time’ for September’s Root Beer and Rides was finalized. This needed to be decided because it is ‘time’ to be included on the A&W Country Stop Cruise Night poster. A thank you to Greg and Neil Christenson for continuing to host this event for us.

We also determined our monthly ‘timing’ for Car Buff’s Breakfast summer locations. At the ‘time’ of this writing, not all location has been confirmed. We do know that we will be at McMillian’s for April and May. Something new for a first ‘time’ try out for Willmar Car Club will be a member prepared egg bake, with rolls, fruit, juice and coffee. Jay and Linda Mork have graciously offered to host this at their place. Scheduled at this ‘time’ for August. Details are yet to be determined. I think this will be a good ‘time’.

Another first ‘time’ will be the April 18th monthly meeting will be at Zorba’s on Green Lake in Spicer. Watch for an e-mail reminder a day or two before the 18th.

On the agenda was discussion regarding an event we have done many times, our Father’s Day Health Care Visit/ Cruise. A thank you to Greg Gjerdingen, as he will be setting up ‘times’ with the facilities. More on this next ‘time’ in the May Polishing Rag when details are firmed up.

In the works, we will also be determining ‘times’ for cruises and places of interest to visit.

While writing this, I kept thinking about a popular 1965 song by the Byrds music group, ” Turn, Turn, Turn”. Part of one line is, “Time to every purpose”. Hoping you can be part of the 2024 Willmar car Club ‘times’.
