iPhone Settings APN
After a couple of days of being a happy mobile internet user you may run into the situation where you no longer seem to be connected to the mobile internet over 3G. And if you take a look at your APN settings you will probably see that the APN info has been cleared and is now empty. At last that is what i was experiencing last year and i see a number of my friends are still struggling with.
Let me show you how you can resolve this once and for all by adding a Configuration Profile with the APN settings.
To support deployment of a large number of iPhones in the enterprise Apple provides a tool called the iPhone Configuration Utility as a free download :
Create configuration profiles that define how iOS devices work with your enterprise systems.
The iPhone Configuration Utility is available for Mac OS X and for Windows .
After downloading and installing the iPhone Configuration utility you get an empty screen like this one :
iPhone Configuration Utility first start
Select Configuration Profiles in the list on the left and click the ‘New’ button in the upper left corner to add a new Configuration profile.
Next, fill out the required fields with your information, you can pick any unique identifier for your profile, the most important part is that it will be unique when it will be on your iPhone.

After adding the identifier and the Name to the General settings go to the last item in the list of the settings for the profile you are editing, the last item in the list is called APN.
Now fill out the APN configuration settings as follows :

That’s all you ask ? Yes it is that simple.
If you want to see if it is really available on the device or remove it for whatever reason later on you need to go into Settings > General > Profiles
