4 Common Misconceptions about CBD Products

By Melissa Greer

It seems like everyone is talking about CBD right now. Everywhere you go there are oils, balms, gummies and beyond. But how much do you really know about CBD? Personally, when I talk to people about my CBD use I find there are 4 common misconceptions that I have to debunk during our conversation.  Test your own knowledge about the most commonly misunderstood facts about CBD below:

True or False: CBD will get you high – which is why taking it for anxiety and the like works. You’re too high to care that you’re anxious.

FALSE! While CBD does come from the Cannabis plant, it is void of the concentrated amounts of THC needed to create the high effect that people associate with Marijuana. CBD products can only contain THC in values of  .3% or less. .3% THC does not create any of the high side effects, like memory loss or disorientation.

True or False: CBD is still illegal because it is derived from an illegal substance (Marijuana).

FALSE! In the United States, CBD is Federally legal and regulated per state. Of course, this means that states can place bans or regulations on CBD products. Federally speaking, hemp and CBD products that contain .3% or less THC are legal in the United States. Stay connected with your States stance on CBD!

True or False: CBD can come in many forms, including teas, topicals, and capsules.

TRUE! CBD can be delivered to your system in many forms, including through lip balms and muscle rubs as well as straight tinctures and supplement capsules. There are even treats for your pets needs!! It’s best to find someone who is knowledgeable on the delivery systems of CBD so that you can find the right combination of methods that may serve the needs you are trying to address.

True or False: CBD has minimal, if any, side effects for the majority of consumers.

TRUE! One of the best things about CBD is that it is an extremely low-risk supplement. Everyone’s system is different, and just like we all have different reactions to foods, we can have reactions to CBD. Some consumers have reported fatigue, diarrhea, and loss of appetite. As with any new supplement, it’s important to consult your doctor before starting CBD.

If you are inclined to try alternative treatment methods, CBD should be at the top of your list as a possible supplement. The versatility of CBD as an answer to a multitude of issues and conditions, coupled with its low-risk factor are worth your research! CBD has personally changed the lives of everyone in my home for the better and helped to ease everything from sleep issues to headaches and anxiety.
