Building an open automotive ecosystem

OpenLeo is a project that aims to open the automotive world.

The OpenLeo Ecosystem.

The end goal is to have a 100% open ecosystem, from the ECU electronics to the diagnostics tool.

Specifications

These specs describe the CAN networks, with it's ECUs and messages, as well as the diagnostics/OBD protocols.

Tools

Diagnostics, tune, simulators, and other tools to work both virtually and on real cars.

Hardware

OBD Interface to infotainement and fully open ECUs, with automotive-grade hardware and firmware.

Online services

Remote control and diagnostics are awesome, DRM on wheels aren't, your car's online services should be self-hosted.

What's the current status of OpenLeo?

The project is still in it's infancy. Currently, specs, diagnostic tool and some ECUs are being worked on.

Why this name?

The collective started as a group of people that worked with peugeot cars, which have a lion as their logo.

Is this safe?

We aim to provide automotive-grade hardware and software, following best practices including MISRA-C compliant firmwares.

Aren't there already other open automotive projects?

While there is groups that aim to create open standard in automotive, we've yet to see a complete open architecture.

Are your devices plug&play?

The current target is to be compatible with cars made by PSA before 2020, for other cars, some work is probably needed.

Are there any limitations?

Our rules forbid documenting parts of existing cars that could easily threathen their security (for example, allow stealing or cheating odometer).
