WinRAR not only can compress the file into RAR format, but also compress the file into a common ZIP format, with RAR format the compression rate is high, with ZIP format the compression speed faster. In RAR format, the compression ratio is 10% to 30% higher than that of the ZIP format. WinRAR can also gives the compressed file a password to protect important files, no one can open this file without password.

  Pros

  Really fast. I've used WinZip before (which was flawless), but WinRAR beats it in speed. Never had any problem in unzipping files.

  It doesn't automatically open the folder where the file(s) has been saved. But that's not really a flaw as many people might find that annoying.

  If they have a trial version, you should definitely try that out and see.
