Astatoreochromis alluaudi has a wide distribution in many rivers and lakes throughout the Victoria basin. The Astatoreochromis genus can be distinguished from the Haplochromis genus by having more than 3 spines in the anal fin. This is a mollusk crusher can reach 15-19 cm (7 inches) as an adult. It needs to have living snails in its aquarium to develop its pharyngeal teeth. It is quite peaceful and tends to play an arbitrator role when kept with mbipis. It can be very aggressive toward the conspecific males. |
