My friend and I visited Addis Ethiopian Restaurant on Friday, 2/9/24, for an early dinner.
We decided to order the Kategna as the appetizer. It was crispy and delicious. For the main course, we got the Meat Combination Platter for Two. It came with
3 Ethiopian meat specialties such as the Doro Wot, Sega Wot, and Sega Alicha along with Injera, Ayib, Boiled Eggs, and a mini Salad. All of the meats were beyond flavorful and bold in taste. My friend and I finished the entire platter feeling full and satisfied.
For the drink, I had a glass of Ethiopian Honey Wine. It was sweet and I enjoyed it very much. Everyone inside the restaurant was pleasant. The customer service was attentive and lovely. The indoor ambiance was decorated nicely with flowers and candles at each table.
Overall, Addis Ethiopian Restaurant is a great spot to satisfy Ethiopian food cravings. I recommend coming here.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Victoria P.San Francisco Bay Area, CA031Feb 4, 2024

Tonight was my first time ever having Ethiopian food and man, have I been missing out. I am visiting on a work trip from California and was taken here by a coworker whose friend is Ethiopian. This was one of the four restaurants the friend had recommended and we enjoyed our meal here.
The restaurant is definitely a place for the locals as there was a group of friends sitting around the bar during our entire meal. It smells heavily incense inside, which you quickly get used to as you dine. While there were one or two servers, the service was not inattentive.
We ordered both of the vegetarian and meat, combination dishes, as well as Ethiopian spiced tea to drink. The spiced tea reminded me of a simmer pot I might boil on my stove to make my house smell good; it tasted great too. Really lovely use of spices in all of the dishes. We did run out of injera at a point, but were able to order more to scoop the last we could eat of the platter.
Sharing the two platters was a good size order for two women and there was some left over. What I love about this cuisine is that you feel full, but not disgusting. I can't wait to try more Ethiopian restaurants in the future.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Rayleen W.Modesto, CA815662Apr 21, 2024
Tasty traditional Ethiopian cuisine with gluten free and dairy free options. The decor is nice, more upscale than the other Ethiopian restaurants that I have visited in the Bay Area. Full bar for a wide variety of adult beverages.

WHEN: Saturday, 2/18/23, 7pm
PARKING: private lot available but plenty of free street parking
Heard good things about Addis. Came by 7pm on a Saturday but there was no wait bc there's plenty of tables inside. They've definitely tried to make the inside a bit nicer with cloth napkins and glass tables. Our server was really friendly. Seemed like everyone there was eating the same thing, the very foreigner friendly Addis combination that samples a bit of everything.
Addis combination ($41) -- served on a huge flat platter you get 3 pre-determined veggie and meat options and a bunch of injera on the side.
For my second time ever eating Ethiopian food, I really enjoyed it. The combination is huge and is a good portion for 3 people. The flavors were deep and I love injera. Only thing is the meat was very tough.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Janice S.San Mateo, CA239Apr 6, 2024
First time at this restaurant, and first time trying Ethiopian cuisine. We really enjoyed the Addis Combo (various vegetarian & meat dishes at the perfect amounts to sample and yet satiate our appetite). Loved the experience, and highly recommend this unique restaurant to everyone!

We were recommended this place by local friends. We liked the food here and the community gatherings on weekends.
During our visit our order was somehow forgotten so we sat there for more than half an hour before we were served.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Feb 26, 2023
Delicious Ethiopian place near the border of Berkeley and Oakland! It's been years since I've eaten Ethiopian food and my friends and I were excited to try this place out. It's been around for over a decade and if I lived closer, I would definitely be going often.
They have their own parking lot (which while it is small, it's awesome to find free parking anywhere in the Bay) and you seat yourself upon entering. We shared a bottle of Ethiopian honey wine which was sweet and bubbly and ended up sharing the Addis combination between the 3 of us with an extra side of injera. The combination comes with a variety of both meat and veggie dishes and my favorite veggie dish was the Teqel Gomen (chunks of cabbage, carrots and potatoes cooked slowly in a blend of spices, onions, garlic, turmeric and herb oil). They also have baklava if you're craving a sweet treat to top off the meal!Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 2Oh no 2 - Alokenanda L.CA, CA6384310Aug 16, 2023
I love this place so much that I start eating the food as soon as I take it out, right in their parking lot. (they do have ample parking space by the way.)
I adore their Adoro Wat and Kitfo. The cardamom spice in kitfo gives a special kick. The spiciness of Kitfo is beautifully offset by the accompanying salad and cottage cheese.
The injera portions are ample! Today I ordered the meat combination and Kitfo. They came with 3 foil-wrapped rolls of injera!
Usually, the Kitfo is bedded on a nice portion of injera. Today, I noticed that the Kitfo was milder in flavor than usual and lacked the generous portion of injera.
Nevertheless, Addis always satisfies my cravings for Ethiopian food and I will be back again.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 2Oh no 0
