One of the things that make Alaska Airlines miles attractive is that they have a wide variety of mileage partners that you can use their miles on.

Becuase Alaska Airlines is not currently in an airline alliance, they have partnerships across the 3 main airline alliances, which can be quite useful.  Included in the list of mileage partners are American Airlines (oneworld), Delta (Skyteam) and some airlines that are not part of an airline alliance (Emirates)

Emirates Availability not showing up

One of the most “aspirational” redemptions using Alaska Airlines miles is on Emirates First Class.  For 100,000 Alaska miles, you can fly from the US to Asia (Hong Kong among other cities) with a stopover in Dubai in First Class. That’s about 24 hours of First Class flying, including the famous Emirates onboard shower

For a few months now, however, Alaska Airlines has not been showing any availability for Emirates First Class or Business Class for later this year.  But now, One Mile at a Time is reporting that Emirates availability is BACK!

Booking Emirates First Class awards using Alaska miles

Alaska’s website is pretty straightforward for booking, and the “Calendar” view is a pretty easy way to see what dates have availability.  Here’s a sample search from Houston to Hong Kong, for June 2015.

These are all for First Class flights, and you can tell by the amount of miles required which of Alaska’s mileage partners it is:

  • 62,500 miles – American Airlines
  • 100,000 miles – Emirates
  • 140,000 miles – Delta (boo)

Alaska does not pass fuel surcharges on its partners, but does charge a $15 partner booking fee (included in the fees above).  Selecting a sample date, you can see

We are looking at possibly doing a trip like this next year, perhaps as part of a round the world trip.  Have you booked an Emirates First Class trip using Alaska miles?
