What is a PPTX file?

PPTX files mostly belong to Power Point by Microsoft. PPTX stands for PowerPoint Presentation XML-structured format. PPTX file format is used to save data files associated with the Microsoft PowerPoint software.

How to open PPTX files

You need a suitable software like Power Point to open a PPTX file. • 97% of all PPTX files use ZIP compression, i.e. a PPTX file contains several compressed files. Such a ZIP file contains 51 to 190 files with names like [Content_Types].xml, \_rels\.rels, \docProps\app.xml, \docProps\core.xml, \docProps\thumbnail.jpeg, \ppt\_rels\presentation.xml.rels, \ppt\media\image1.jpeg, \ppt\media\image1.png, \ppt\presProps.xml, \ppt\presentation.xml, \ppt\tableStyles.xml and \ppt\viewProps.xml. A little tip: If you rename the file extension to .zip and then double-click, you will see the included files and images. The file size is in the range of 110 KB to 10 MB. The following keywords are characteristic: [Content_Types].xml. Such PPTX files store data about presentation, week, lesson, lecture, group, chapter, power and module.
• 1% of all PPTX files use the Microsoft Compound File format, also known as Composite Document File format or OLE2 compound document format. This is a complex container format used by earlier versions of Microsoft Office and other Windows programs. The file signature of compound files is defined as D0 CF 11 E0 A1 B1 1A E1, so the first character of a file looks like "DOCFILE". Sections and streams in the file have names like EncryptedPackage, DataSpaces and EncryptionInfo. The files are often between 54 KB and 12 MB in size.
