How good is a aftermarket short shifter on a GS?

Huge understatement, and have driven 1930's Furgens trackers that had more precise shifters in them.
Really, the shifter is on par for what comes in a Ford Pinto (all it's slop), but for a sports car that is GM's show piece, a shame instead
