Software voor de syndicus is vaak gericht naar de professionele syndicus en kost talloze euro’s per licentie. Geld dat de Algemene Vergadering zelden over heeft om het zijn syndicus gemakkelijker te maken. Wat jammer is, want vaak kan de syndicus zo zijn taak beter, transparanter en gemakkelijker uitvoeren.

Met SyndicusOnline is dit probleem opgelost. SyndicusOnline is software voor zowel de hobby syndicus van één gebouw als de professionele syndicus met tientallen gebouwen. Een enkele VME begint vanaf 49 euro per jaar, tot het dubbele voor een vme van meer dan 50 geregistreerde gebruikers. Syndici met meerdere gebouwen in beheer kunnen contact opnemen voor een aangepaste offerte.

SyndicusOnline is een applicatie die volledig online draait, dus de syndicus hoeft zich niets meer aan te trekken van hostingkosten, backups en dergelijke. Het enige dat vereist is is een internet-verbinding, wat met de smartphones en tablets van vandaag bijna alomtegenwoordig is.

Met SyndicusOnline kan de syndicus alles delen met de bewoners wat wettelijk vereist is, maar daar stopt het niet! Naast documenten, het minimaal genormaliseerd rekeningstelsel en bewonersinformatie, kan hij ook kiezen om afrekeningen, nuttige adressen, agenda-items, algemene meldingen, enzomeer te delen. Daarnaast is er een module om storingen te melden en op te volgen, een module om meterstanden in te geven en op te volgen, en zijn er meerdere modules in ontwikkeling.

ps: SyndicusOnline wordt door mij ontwikkeld, is begonnen als hobby-project (op vraag van een klant) maar is nu uitgegroeid tot een volwaardige applicatie met veel potentieel. Met het internet is een beheer van uitzonderlijke communicatie en transparantie mogelijk, en heeft iedere VME de mogelijkheid om de tijd van een onzichtbare, slecht communicerende en dure syndicus achter zich te laten. Ik geloof hier sterk in, en wil een applicatie uitbouwen die zowel de eigenaars als de syndicus van een VME tevreden maakt.

After successfully building the eventBus, I decided to extend the application to use the MVP (Model-View-Presenter) pattern. The use of this pattern is nicely explained on the google testing blog. Since it’s quite a new way of doing this, there is very little example code available.
Since the gwt best practices are mostly focused on testing, and testing is an invaluable part of application design, we’ll write the test first. I’m not going in detail about Test Driven Development, there are plenty of good books around.

If you need to use drag and drop in your GWT application, there is a wonderful library available: gwt-dnd. Check out the demo: it offers almost everything one might expect from drag&drop.
Sometimes though, such a vast and feature-rich library is too much. I needed to create a custom scrollbar, and to do this with gwt-dnd is not that simple, since its constraint panel only affects the dropzone while the draggable element can still be dragged anywhere in the main AbsolutePanel.
So I looked for another way, and in fact it isn’t hard at all:

GWT 1.6 gets rid of all the Listener classes, and replaces them with the new Handler classes. For a comparison of the two, Jason from Lemming Technology Blog has a good overview.

At Google I/O, Ray Ryan talks about best practices for architecting your GWT app. There he mentions using an Eventbus to manage your events, and even provides some example code. Still, it all seemed a bit confusing, so I made a little testapplication to test it out.
