Welcome

A military history enthusiast of the Second World War and in particular the fighting in Europe from June 1944 until the final victory of 8 May 1945, the idea occured to me to create this site dedicated to 35th Infantry Divsion.

Indeed, unlike the divisions having taken part in the landings of 6 June 1944, the 35th Division, like many others, is less well known and seems forgotten when she was not unworthy since his landing in Normandy in July 1944 to the borders of the Elbe in April 1945.

These men have paid a heavy toll to come fight on a land that was not theirs to release us from the tyranny of the Nazi.

Today, over 65 years later, this site commemorates and pays tribute to their memory so that their sacrifice is not in vain.

Objectives

The main purpose of this site is to preserve the history of the 35th Infantry Division and honor the memory of the soldiers of this unit.

In this end, the website offers extensive information on the organization of the division, its history or the major battles and the opportunity to consult many unpublished documents.

But the purpose of this site can not be achieved without presenting the personal story of men, that's why this site offers all the soldiers of the 35th Infantry Division who fought in World War II personal space where everyone can express themselves freely and share his thoughts on the war, etc...

To the attention of the veterans

Dear Veterans,

Not only this website aims to preserve the history of the 35th Division Infantry, but also to honor the memory of the veterans of this unit, that is to say your story and your memory. All the soldiers of the 35th Infantry Division have risked or lost their lives during the Second World War so that we can live in a free world.

It is therefore necessary to share your experiences with future generations so they do not forget why you fought ...

Sir Winston Churchill said, "A nation that forgets its past is doomed to repeat it...».

This website offers you the opportunity to get a personal page where you will might to express yourself freely, to share your thoughts on the war, etc ... (See Part "Veterans"). Simply get in touch with me by sending me a summary of your career with photos or documents, belongings ... (All documents will be returned immediately after use unless otherwise specified).

The family members of a soldier deceased can also benefit from this page to create a space dedicated in memory of their father (or grandfather) deceased. You can contact me using the form available here.

Yours respectfully.
