A TOURNAMENT OF
MINIATURE LITERATURE
MINIATURE LITERATURE
LETTER FROM
THE EDITOR
The Fall 2015 Drabbled Tournament was a bust.
As editor/director, the blame is on me. I think I overextended the form of Drabbled, requesting 2-part stories. Although I still contend that the concept is interesting and entertaining when accomplished, 2-part stories just don't suit the tournament. The philosophy of Drabbled is to draw stories out of everyone, not to discourage them from writing in the first place, which I fear the Double Drabble format did.
I received only a handful of stories for Drabbled 4, and many of those were not returned after editing. This was especially disappointing because we missed out on some spooky stories.
In order to better future tournaments, I will be simplifying the website, returning to the original 100-word format, only run one tournament per year, increase the length of the submission period, and from now on, any attempts to innovate the format will not be used during tournaments, rather I will create a separate Drabbled Anthology project which will have totally separate requirements and distribution.
Thank you
to the pair of writers who actually completed stories to spook us this season, even if only a couple.
You two are automatic winners!
And for you Drabbled readers, without (much) further ado, please visit the
DRABBLED 4 Tournament Page
to read 4 Double Drabbles; 2 by submitting writers and 2 by Drabbled editors (myself and a guest editor).
Thanks for reading! And again, I apologize for the debacle that was this tournament. It will be remedied next year.
Now, Drabbled pleasantly presents a pair of pairs of spooky stories.
My Sincerest Thanks for Your Support,
The Man in the Yellow Hat
