Mets recalled INF Mark Vientos from Triple-A Syracuse.

It’s a bit surprising to see Vientos back with the Mets with veteran slugger J.D. Martinez finally healthy and occupying the designated hitter slot until further notice. The 24-year-old slugger batted .302 (26-for-86) with five homers and 22 RBI across 23 games for Triple-A Syracuse after failing to make New York’s season-opening roster. He’ll presumably split time between third base, first base and DH moving forward, but the lack of consistent playing time limits his appeal for fantasy purposes.
Jake Fraley

CIN Right Fielder #27

Jake Fraley (illness) has returned to the lineup for Saturday’s game against the Rangers.

Fraley is back in right field and batting fifth on Saturday following a six-game absence due to illness. The 28-year-old outfielder hasn’t gotten into a game since April 20.
Tylor Megill

NYM Starting Pitcher #38

Tylor Megill (shoulder) will make a minor league rehab start on Saturday for High-A Brooklyn.

Megill has been on the shelf since early April recovering from a right shoulder strain and will presumably require a few additional rehab outings before returning to New York’s starting rotation at some point in mid-to-late May. The 28-year-old righty is expected to throw roughly two innings on Saturday afternoon in his rehab debut.
Starling Marte

NYM Right Fielder #6

Starling Marte and Harrison Bader are not in the lineup for Saturday’s contest against the Cardinals.

Marte and Bader take a seat with Tyrone Taylor and DJ Stewart patrolling center and right field, respectively, with Sonny Gray on the mound for St. Louis. The 35-year-old veteran outfielder has looked rejuvenated this season, batting .288 with four homers and six steals through 25 games.

BOS Left Fielder #7

Masataka Yoshida is back in the lineup for Saturday’s showdown against the Cubs.

Yoshida is back in Boston’s starting lineup for the first time in five contests since last weekend. The 30-year-old slugger holds a .660 OPS with two homers through 22 games this season and has ceded playing time at designated hitter lately due to Rafael Devers’ ongoing physical issues.

MIA Relief Pitcher #72

Marlins selected the contract of LHP Kent Emanuel from Triple-A Jacksonville.

Emanuel is back for another stint with the Marlins after one relief appearance earlier this month in his first big-league outing since 2021. The 31-year-old southpaw provides Miami’s bullpen with a fresh arm for the rest of this weekend’s series against the Nationals.

Marlins designated RHP Kyle Tyler for assignment.

Tyler figures to draw some interest on waivers after pitching well on Friday night in his Marlins debut, allowing on run over two innings in relief against the Nationals. The 27-year-old righty will presumably stick around with Miami as extra relief depth, if he winds up clearing waivers.

Trey Cabbage will serve as the Astros’ 27th man for this weekend’s Mexico City series against the Rockies.

The big question here is whether Cabbage will stick around with the Astros in a bench role or head back to Triple-A Sugar Land at the conclusion of this weekend’s two-game series down in Mexico City. The 26-year-old outfielder possesses serious contact issues, but doesn’t really have anything left to prove in the minors at this stage of his career.
Michael Toglia

COL First Baseman #4

Michael Toglia will serve as the Rockies’ 27th man for this weekend’s Mexico City series against the Astros.

Toglia stuck around with the Rockies earlier this week after being optioned to Triple-A Albuquerque and could potentially get into a game this weekend down in Mexico City before heading back to the minors.
Zac Gallen

ARI Starting Pitcher #23

Diamondbacks manager Torey Lovullo expressed optimism late Friday that Zac Gallen (hamstring) will make his next start.

Gallen was removed from Friday’s start against the Mariners in the sixth inning for precautionary reasons after experiencing right hamstring tightness. The 28-year-old righty has dealt with similar hamstring issues in the past, which is why Arizona didn’t want to take any chances. There should be some clarity on his status at some point in a few days when he throws his usual between-starts bullpen session, but for the moment, fantasy managers should plan on him taking the ball on Wednesday against the Dodgers at Chase Field.
