This starts out as a nice gesture, then quickly becomes absolutely ridiculous.

1,024 dice. Man.

The transition from innate human kindness wanting to pass something forward and monkey brain want make chaos is really sharp and sudden.

Also from “Oh I want those dice so bad, but…!” to “Oh that is too many dice.” (After a more gradual ramp up from “Not enough dice to tempt me”.)

Fanfic writers are like crows. If you give them treats (comments) they will bring you shiny things (fanfic)

I thought this said cows and thought, “Okay, tell me more…”

Fandom creators are like cows, some people think you can just milk them for content, but actually they need enrichment (comments) and a nice pasture to graze on (kudos/likes) and they secretly also like cuddles (asks about their fic/art)

A satirical papyrus showing a lady mouse being served wine by a cat while another cat dresses her hair, a third cares for her baby, and a fourth fans her. The mice have hilarious huge, round ears.

Where: Egyptian Museum Cairo

When: New Kingdom

In this case the word “satirical” is being used to help cover up the existence of the brief Mouse Dynasty, which occurred between the Eighteenth and Nineteenth dynasties, following the death of Pharoah Horemhab and his appointment of the palace Mouse, Pnw I (pronounced penoo) to the throne. Following the death of Pnw XIth, three years later, Ramesses I took the throne and the Nineteenth Dynasty began. Most traces of the Mouse Dynasty were eliminated, but several have survived.

As an Egyptologist, I can confirm that we have depictions of Pharao Pnw III and Pharao Pnw IX:

As you can see, they are stylistically very similar, and can thus be grouped into the same dynasty (dynasty eighteen and a half). If you want to read more about this topic, here are some resources: link

oh my goodness I love her she’s so wholesome

#She has a book about to come out??#Prev tags say Mercury Stardust which might be her name?

Yeah! Her name is Mercury Stardust, and she’s a maintenance technician who gives tips and talks about renters’ rights. She also does burlesque shows! She’s mostly active on TikTok I think, but she has some other socials and a main website.

Her book, titled “Safe and Sound: A Renter-Friendly Guide to Home Repair” comes out in August 2023.

The book blurb, taken from the publisher’s website:

Dear Readers:

As a transwoman, I’ve discovered (the hard way) that we live in a world with much to fear. But imagine fearing something as simple as asking for help. Imagine relying on others—landlords—to provide a basic human right, like housing, but knowing those same people believe you’re an abomination because of your sexuality or gender identity. Imagine a world where reaching out for help is more than just a mundane task—it’s a game of chance. Sadly, for too many renters, this isn’t just a one-time moment of fear. For single moms, college students in a foreign town, and many others, a knock on the door can feel just as terrifying, even when you need the help.

All renters deserve to feel empowered enough to take matters into their own hands. The skills I’ll show you how to develop will allow you to help friends, teach family members, and even assist a panicking neighbor—further empowering more people to take on tasks on their own. We all have a home—whether it’s made up of brick walls or plaster—filled with memories and dreams. Knowledge should pass through any barriers put up around it because a little bit of knowledge can go a long way toward making someone feel more in control of their own life.

Your soon-to-be favorite virtual repair technician,
Mercury Stardust, the Trans Handy Ma’am

She actually JUST retired from burlesque.

and she also just launched a podcast! the Handy Ma’am Hotline.

TIL that there’s an ‘80s movie where they portrayed Smilodon by sticking actual fake teeth onto actual live lions.

So I learnt about this as part of a paleontology lecture talking about how it became accepted that saber teeth don’t hinder the animals ability to eat

Citation - those people who stuck some on real lions which were able to eat without problems once they got used to them
