Qu'on a bouffé nos doigts

Où t'es? Papa ou t'es?
Où t'es? Papa ou t'es?
Où t'es? Papa ou t'es?
Où t'es? Où t'es? Où Papa ou t'es?
Où t'es? Papa ou t'es?
Où t'es? Papa ou t'es?
Où t'es? Papa ou t'es?
Où t'es? Où t'es? Où Papa ou t'es?

Où est ton papa?
Dis-moi, où est ton papa?
Sans même devoir lui parler
Il sait ce qu'il ne va pas
Un sacré papa
Dis-moi où es-tu caché?
Ça doit faire au moins mille fois
Que j'ai compté mes doigts
Où est ton papa?
Dis-moi, où est ton papa?
Sans même devoir lui parler
Il sait ce qu'il ne va pas
Un sacré papa
Dis-moi où es-tu caché?
Ça doit faire au moins mille fois
Que j'ai compté mes doigts

Où t'es? Papa ou t'es?
Où t'es? Papa ou t'es?
Où t'es? Papa ou t'es?
Où t'es? Où t'es? Où Papa ou t'es?
Où t'es? Papa ou t'es?
Où t'es? Papa ou t'es?
Où t'es? Papa ou t'es?
Où t'es? Où t'es? Où Papa ou t'es?

    My Interpretation

My cousin showed me this song and he said it was about kids who grow up with gay parents and how that's a bad thing...(I think he was kinda homophobic) but after researching Stromae a bit more, I learned that his dad was murdered in the Tutsi Genocide in Rwanda, so Stromae grew up without a father. Take that, homophobic cousin :P

Sad/melancholic song with powerful lyrics about a young boy who is looking for his father (either real or as a responsible, parental advisor = a role model for a father)

    Translation

Tell me where he's from So I know where to go Mom says if you search carefully you'll always end up finding it.

She says he's never too far He's off for work very often Mom says working is good Way better than keeping bad company Right?

Where is your dad? Tell me where is your dad? Without even having talked to him He knows what's wrong Huh, holy dad! Tell me where you're hidden It must be at least a thousand times That I counted my fingers Hey!

Where are you? Dad, where are you? Where are you? Dad, where are you? Where are you? Dad, where are you? Where are you? Where are you? Where, Dad, where are you?

Whether we believe it or not There will be one day where we will no longer believe Some day where we all will be a dad And some day where we all will disappear

Will we be abominable? Will we be admirable? Producers or geniuses Tell us who gives Birth to the Irresponsibles?

Ah, tell us who Everyone knows How to make babies But no one knows How to make dads Mr. Know it all It runs in the blood, doesn't it

Gotta suck it out of my thumbs, or what? Tell us where he's hidden It must be at least a thousand times That you've eaten your fingers Hey!

Where are you? Dad, where are you? Where are you? Dad, where are you? Where are you? Dad, where are you? Where are you? Where are you? Where, Dad, where are you?

Where are you? Dad, where are you? Where are you? Dad, where are you? Where are you? Dad, where are you? Where are you? Where are you? Where, Dad, where are you?

Where is your dad? Tell me where is your dad? Without even having talked to him He knows what's wrong Huh, holy dad! Tell me where you're hidden It must be at least a thousand times That I counted my fingers Hey!

Where are you? Dad, where are you? Where are you? Dad, where are you? Where are you? Dad, where are you? Where are you? Where are you? Where, Dad, where are you?

I think this is a song about a father who is rarely seen since he works so much as in the song the mother says he has to got to work often. So the boy started to replace his dad for a doll and is asking him where he's hiding and to come back. He often calls him a coward. He sees that the other children have their father as a role model or leader someone to look up to but he doesn't so he keeps saying where are you dad? In hopes of getting him back.

The Night We Met
Lord Huron
This is a hauntingly beautiful song about introspection, specifically about looking back at a relationship that started bad and ended so poorly, that the narrator wants to go back to the very beginning and tell himself to not even travel down that road. I believe that the relationship started poorly because of the lines: "Take me back to the night we met:When the night was full of terrors: And your eyes were filled with tears: When you had not touched me yet" So, the first night was not a great start, but the narrator pursued the relationship and eventually both overcame the rough start to fall in love with each other: "I had all and then most of you" Like many relationships that turn sour, it was not a quick decline, but a gradual one where the narrator and their partner fall out of love and gradually grow apart "Some and now none of you" Losing someone who was once everything in your world, who you could confide in, tell your secrets to, share all the most intimate parts of your life, to being strangers with that person is probably one of the most painful experiences a person can go through. So Painful, the narrator wants to go back in time and tell himself to not even pursue the relationship. This was the perfect song for "13 Reasons Why"

Magical
Ed Sheeran
How would you describe the feeling of being in love? For Ed Sheeran, the word is “Magical.” in HIS three-minute album opener, he makes an attempt to capture the beauty and delicacy of true love with words. He describes the magic of it all over a bright Pop song produced by Aaron Dessner.

Blue
Ed Sheeran
“Blue” is a song about a love that is persisting in the discomfort of the person experiencing the emotion. Ed Sheeran reflects on love lost, and although he wishes his former partner find happiness, he cannot but admit his feelings are still very much there. He expresses the realization that he might never find another on this stringed instrumental by Aaron Dessner.

Page
Ed Sheeran
There aren’t many things that’ll hurt more than giving love a chance against your better judgement only to have your heart crushed yet again. Ed Sheeran tells such a story on “Page.” On this track, he is devastated to have lost his lover and even more saddened by the feeling that he may never move on from this.
