Roger Burkman

Roger Burkman transitioned to the Director of Athletic Advancement at Spalding in the summer of 2022. 

Prior to filling his current role, Burkman served Athletics Director at Spalding for 17 years. Under Burkman's guidence, SU Athletics went through a complete transformation  transitioning from NAIA to NCAA, growing the athletic department to 18 varsity sports, as well as spearheading a $7 million athletic fields complex and $1.4 million renovation of the Columbia Gym Building

Prior to Spalding, Burkman spent 11 years at Trinity High School serving as the senior development officer. Burkman was also a member of the University of Louisville 1980 NCAA Men`s Basketball Championship Team, where he played four years for “Hall of Fame” coach Denny Crum. After college, he played one year professionally with the NBA Chicago Bulls and the CBA Anchorage Knights.

The Acton, Indiana native is a graduate of Franklin Central High School, and went on to earn a bachelor’s in Business at the University of Louisville.

Roger currently resides in Louisville with his wife, The Honorable Judge Judith McDonald-Burkman, and their two children, Elisa Catherine and Lukas Allen.
