Craniosacral Pediatrics CPD Course

Nieuwsbrief aanvragen

These CPD (Continuing Professional Development) courses are developped by Claire Dolby, DO, BCST and RCST (UK).

They are specifically for people who already have at least 1 year experience with Craniosacral Therapy in their own practice and are able to work with cranial base patterns (sphenoid) OR to those who are sufficiently trained in BCST and know how to work with the inherent treatment plan.

WHY CRANIOSACRAL PEDIATRICS?

Being born is a big challenge for a baby. There's a lot of attention in our western world regarding the birth procedure itself, but not (necessarily) for the processes experienced by the mother and the baby.
Next to the heavy physical labour during birth, both mother and baby can also suffer from perinatal stress and traumarelated issues, even without an obvious link to the real cause(s).

It's possible that the baby experiences issues regarding sleeping and eating, or suffers from reflux and colics, or cries a lot without obvious reason.

The mother can experience problems with breastfeeding, exhaustion, emotional instability, depression, headaches, backpain, dizzyness, no attachment with the baby ... All these things are influencing the behaviour of the baby.

Baby's and little children are strongly connected and influenced with what happens in their environment. In this stage of life, a baby has very little sense of being an individual person.
So it will be essential to examine the interrelational dynamics between the baby and the parent(s) or caregiver(s).

The needs from the baby are mostly communicated in a non-verbal way.
So it will be neccesary for the therapist to sharpen his sensitivities so he can give an appropriate response to the messages send by the baby.
It's essential that the therapist knows how to blend and trust and allows the child to be self directed. This will enable the child to feel safe.

Working with a baby will require a different and specialised set of clinical skills, compared those applied while working with teenagers and adults.
