The No Strings Attached Show was recently invited into the Cisco real-world labs in Richfield, Ohio to get a behind the scenes look at what goes into the claims made by many manufacturers and how this manifests itself in real-world testing situations.
While we couldn't build a stadium or extremely high density area to test RX-SOP in the good news is you don't need to! This test can easily be replicated with 2 APs and 2 clients. Each AP will be on the same channel and the clients connected.
By properly tuning RX-SOP to our test environment we were able to see roughly a 20% increase in aggregate throughput. While this may not seem like much it can mean the difference between a successful and a failed deployment.
Cisco did not compensate the NSA Show in any shape or form to perform this test. Cisco did take care of travel expenses as well as a Cisco AP2700 for further testing.
We loaded up 7.6MR2 as it was the currently shipping code at the time of the testing (May 2014).
