JUNE

Prague Museum Night - June 8, 2013

Prague Museum Night is a truly unique event. It is organised by the National Museum, the Prague Public Transit Company and the Association of Museums and Galleries of the Czech Republic, in co-operation with other museums and institutes. Most museums involved are open for free between 19:00 and 01:00, offering visitors a unique night-time view of their exhibits. There are also special bus lines connecting the museums. Forty institutions signed up this year, including the Jewish Museum, the Botanical Garden and the Museum of Czech Police. A complete list and more info can be found online. Alicia Keys - June 12, 2013

Singer, songwriter, producer and fourteen times Grammy winner Alicia Keys released her long-awaited fifth studio album - Girl on Fire - at the end of 2012. This concert tour celebrates the album and sees the artist extraordinaire perform in the Czech Republic at the O2 Arena. Ticket prices start at 1090 CZK and are available online. (w) www.o2arena.cz

Portishead - June 19, 2013

British trip-hoppers Portishead will play in the Czech Republic for the first time on June 19, as part of their European tour. Their last album - Third, came out five-years-ago, so let's see if they‘ve still got it. They will be performing at Tipsport Arena. Tickets start at 890 CZK and are available through www.ticketpro.cz.

Prague Proms - June 21 to July 20, 2013

The Prague Proms annual music festival is a series of classical concerts organised by the Czech National Symphony Orchestra. Traditionally these take place at the Municipal House, in the beautiful Smetana Hall - the largest auditorium in the building. This year, two equally prestigious venues will join the Prague Proms line up - the Rudolfinum Concert Hall and Hybernia Theatre. As part of the festival, there will also be a special and free event, held in Wenceslas Square and called Hollywood Night. The Czech National Symphony Orchestra will perform songs from famous movies including Harry Potter, James Bond and Shrek. (w) www.pragueproms.cz

Speedway World Cup Final - July 20, 2013: The famous motorbike race visits Prague for the first time.

Depeche Mode - July 23, 2013: Dave Gahan and company stop by Prague on their huge Europe tour, before heading to North America.

Prague Folklore Days - July 25 to 28, 2013: An international folklore festival with performers from all over the world.

Ivan Lendl, Alfons Mucha Exhibiton - until July 31, 2013: The best pieces from Czech Art Noveau artist Alfons Mucha, selected from the private collection of Ivan Lendl.

AUGUST

Carlos Santana - August 1, 2013: The magical guitarist performs at the O2 arena.

Sazava Fest - August 1 to 3, 2013: A music festival in a lovely town, a short train ride away from Prague.

Regina Spektor - August 13, 2013: The American singer and pianist is set to perform an open air show at the Prague Castle.

Glen Hansard - August 20, 2013: The Irish singer and songwriter will also perform at the Prague Castle, one week later.
